    TalentFlex Solutions, a leading Business & Technology consulting firm, is actively supporting a client that is a leader in the credit union industry with hiring an External Mortgage Originator.  The External Mortgage Originator will serve as a representative to the realtor community, customers, and prospective members in our designated community for mortgage transactions.


    • Initial point of contact for all outside sales, educates applicants on the mortgage options available, determine the most appropriate program for the applicant’s circumstances and provide assistance with the completion of the application.
    • Meets established sales goals and promotes ancillary products and services.
    • Knows territory and markets such as market share key accounts etc.
    • Conducts territory management through a consistent broker call plan, homebuyers seminars, branch referrals and community outreach.
    • Answer all inquires from prospective mortgage applicants and broker and correspondent network. Develop outside sales program.
    • Have one on one session, by phone or in person at member’s convenience and at various locations with all mortgage applicants at the time of application to determine each applicant’s individual needs, requirements and circumstances and educate each applicant in depth on the mortgage programs available and how each one would relate to their needs.
    • Respond to and guide applicants through the application process. Maintain open communication lines to control anxiety of member.
    • Knows product guidelines, investor constraints pricing and time frames.
    • Assist members in the best possible usage of credit union services, the most proficient way in which to obtain loans through the credit union and cross-sell available credit union products and services.
    • Submits applications within 24 hours of application date.
    • When needed, assist the mortgage processors in obtaining required documents from the applicant. Assists with the coordination of the closing process. Answer all inquires from prospective mortgage applicants.
    • Knowledge of Credit Union Products and services to identify opportunities for additional lending products and services.
    • Requires sales experience and market contacts for self-sourced business leads.
    • Proven previous past production experience
    • Provide clear, complete instructions and or/explanations to members.
    •  Rate locks loans within our policy.
    • Prepare annual business or market plan.
    • Remains active in credit union training programs. Complete the position’s present curriculum as outlined by completing the following – credit union annual required compliance training and the supplemental courses listed within the prescribed time. Follows policy and procedure daily to ensure compliant with current regulations.
    • Completes all other tasks, assignments or functions as assigned and/or required.


    • Associates Degree and/or 3 years equivalent experience. Continuing education preferred.
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to deal effectively, tactfully and professionally with members and co-workers.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Aptitude for detail and figure work.
    • Familiarity with state and federal lending regulations helpful.
    • Thorough understanding of mortgage products, documentation and origination process
    • Comprehension of real estate appraisals, certifications, and inspections.
    • Able to work flexible hours.
    • Must have personal transportation and valid driver’s license.
    • Public speaking skills.
    • Ability to multi-task under pressure.
    • Being a team player that is considerate of other employees.
    • Extensive knowledge of our community, products, policies and procedures.
